Heather E. Voorn

Certified Elder Law Attorney* (CELA)

About Heather

Heather E. Voorn is a founding partner at Voorn, Jaworski, & Preston, PLLC, where she concentrates her practice in Elder Law and Estate Planning. She is one of only 11 Certified Elder Law Attorneys (CELA)* in Illinois — a certification through the National Elder Law Foundation and recognized by the American Bar Association — reflecting her exceptional depth of knowledge in serving elderly clients, people with disabilities, and their families.

Ms. Voorn earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Florida State University and her J.D., also magna cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago (n/k/a University of Illinois Chicago School of Law). During law school, she served on Law Review and completed an externship with the Honorable Charles R. Norgle of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She has also published in the Forum on Public Policy: A Journal of the Oxford Round Table.

Her leadership in the field is equally notable. Ms. Voorn currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and as President of CASA of River Valley. She also serves as Treasurer of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) and is a director on the Silver Cross Hospital Foundation. A respected educator, she has served on the faculty of both the National Business Institute and IICLE, and is a sought-after speaker on elder law topics at local and national forums. She co-authored the IICLE publications “Advising Elderly Clients and Their Families” and “Special-Needs Trusts.”

Ms. Voorn maintains active memberships in NAELA, the Illinois NAELA Chapter, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Will County Bar Association, and the Estate Planning Council of Will County.
